Our Programmes:1) Journaling for P1 to P6 (Thinking of Math –TOM)
TOM is a platform for pupils to record their Mathematical thinking. It tracks the development of their thinking process and allows them time to reflect on their Math learning. Pupils have the opportunities be creative and critical in problem solving. TOM serves as an assessment tool that gives the teacher an insight into what a pupil understands, how he/she approaches to solve a problem and what misconceptions he/she may have.
Heuristics or methods of problem solving are taught systematically to pupils to sharpen their mathematical thinking skills. With the spiral approach, pupils acquire different methods of problem solving each year. They become more confident in problem solving when they are able to identify the best strategy to solve different types of routine and non-routine questions.
Primary 1 to 3 pupils are given the opportunity to experience application of Math concepts and skills through experiential and a uthentic learning at Math stations around the school. Through this programme, pupils can better relate Math to real life. This will also help them to become more self-directed and collaborative learners as they look for answers individually and as a team.
Our creative and enthusiastic PSG Math Mums & Dads conduct fun and engaging activities for our pupils during the 2 recesses on Tuesdays at the Math Hub. Pupils enjoy the interesting hands-on activities very much and always look forward to the following week to try new games. (insert video ?)
